1046.38 CATCH BASINS.
   (a)   Location. Catch basins shall be located at low points as dictated by the street design. No water shall be conducted more than 600 feet over land in a gutter before being collected by a catch basin. Water shall not be conducted around corners from a distance of more than 150 feet.
   (b)   Design. Catch basin design shall be in accordance with Figure 1, following this chapter, and the following specifications. The provisions of Section 1046.37(b) shall apply to catch basin design with the following exceptions and additions:
      (1)   All catch basins shall be provided with a two-foot sump.
      (2)   The brick or block base ring required for manholes may be omitted if proper methods are used in constructing pipe openings.
      (3)   Catch basin covers for installation with curb and gutter sections shall be according to standard engineering practices as specified by the Division of Water. Catch basin covers for other applications shall be approved by the City Manager, in writing, in advance of installation.
