§ 71.24 PROCEDURE FOR SELECTING WRECKERS.
   The Chief of the Danville Police Department shall invite and receive applications from wreckers for providing on-call towing services for the Danville Police Department. The Chief of the Danville Police Department shall establish specifications which shall include but not be limited to the wrecker’s towing vehicles, equipment, storage lot, response times and insurance, and shall include same in all invitations for applications. The Chief of the Danville Police Department shall authorize wreckers meeting the established specifications to provide on-call towing services for the town as needed by the Police Department, provided the wrecker operator executes a written agreement to abide by the town’s rules for on-call towing services. If more than one wrecker is authorized to provide on-call towing services, Police Department calls for towing services shall be directed to the on-call wreckers on a rotating basis as prescribed by the Chief of the Danville Police Department. If a police officer determines that wrecker authorized to provide on-call towing services is not adequately available to tow a vehicle in a particular situation, the officer may call another wrecker operator which shall tow and impound vehicles in accordance with the procedures of this subchapter.
