§ 154.03 AMENDMENTS TO THE MECHANICAL CODE.
   In order to modify this code to accommodate special local circumstances the following modifications are hereby made.
   (A)   Section 101.1 (page 1, second line) insert "City of Danville."
   (B)   Section 103 shall be deleted in its entirety.
   (C)   Section 104.1 "General" shall be amended to add the following at the end of the paragraph:
   "The Mechanical Inspector shall devote his entire time to his office and its duties. He shall not engage in the occupation of installing or altering heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, fire suppression and related systems within the City of Danville, except for City projects as directed by the Department."
   (D)   Section 106.5.2 "Fee Schedule" shall be amended to state the following:
   "Fees collected under this Code shall be as described in Section 151.99 of the city Code of Ordinances except that fireplaces, wood stoves and other solid fuel burning equipment installations shall require a mechanical permit. The permit fee shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) per unit and all mechanical permit fees shall be non-refundable."
   (E)   Section 106.5.3 shall be deleted in its entirety.
   (F)   Section 108.2 shall be deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:
   "108.2 Procedure. Any violation of this chapter shall be enforced pursuant to Chapter 166 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Danville."
   (G)   Sections 108.3 and 108.4 shall be deleted in their entirety.
   (H)   Section 108.5 shall be amended by deleting the language", shall be liable for a fine of not less than [amount] dollars or more than [amount] dollars" at the end of the section.
   (I)   Section 108.7.1 shall be amended by deleting the reference to "Section 108.2" and replacing it with a reference to "Chapter 166".
   (J)   Section 109 shall be deleted in its entirety.
   (K)   Section 929 shall be added as follows:
   "Section 929 Unvented room heaters
   929.1 General. Unvented, gas-fired room heaters shall be listed, labeled and installed in accordance with the conditions of the listing and the manufacturer's installation instructions.
   929.2 Prohibited use. One or more unvented room heaters shall not be used as the sole source of comfort heating in a dwelling unit.
   929.3 Input rating. Unvented room heaters shall not have an input rating in excess of 40,000 Btu/h (11.7kW).
   929.4 Prohibited locations. Unvented room heaters shall not be installed within occupancies in Use Groups A, E, and I. The location of unvented room heaters shall also comply with Section 303.3.
   929.5 Room or space volume. The aggregate input rating of all unvented appliances installed in a room or space shall not exceed 20 Btu/h per cubic foot (0.21 kW/m3) of volume of such room or space. Where the room or space in which the appliances are installed is directly connected to another room or space by a doorway, archway or other opening of comparable size that cannot be closed, the volume of such adjacent room or space shall be permitted to be included in the calculations.
   929.6 Oxygen-depletion safety system. Unvented room heaters shall be equipped with an oxygen-depletion-sensitive safety shutoff system. The system shall shut off the gas supply to the main and pilot burners, when the oxygen in the surrounding atmosphere is depleted to the percent concentration specified by the manufacturer, but not lower than 18 percent. The system shall not incorporate field adjustment means capable of changing the set point at which the system acts to shut off the gas supply to the room heater."
