248.01 COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENTS; DUTIES; HOURS OF WORK; ABSENCE OF SERVICE DIRECTOR.
   (a)   Composition.
      (1)   The Service Department shall consist of a Service Director, an Assistant Service Director, one skilled maintenance employee, one mechanic, one head landscaper, not more than five full-time laborers designated as "Laborer I", one skilled apprentice, not more than two full-time laborers designated as "Laborer II", and one Laborer/Recreation Coordinator/Operations Support employee. Collectively, the total number of full-time employees of the Service Department shall not exceed fourteen employees.
      (2)   The Service Department may also include such number of part-time mechanics, part-time skilled mechanic/skilled maintenance employee(s), part-time laborers, and part-time bus-drivers as may be appointed by the Mayor, pursuant to Section 248.02, at the request of the Service Director for good cause shown.
   (b)   Appointment; Duties. The Service Director, Assistant Service Director, and any employees listed in Chapter 248 shall serve as prescribed in Section 230.01. They shall perform such duties as may from time to time be assigned to them by the Mayor.
   (c)   Hours of Work. The minimum hours of work for which the Service Director, the Assistant Service Director, and any employees listed in Section 248.01(a)(1) shall be required to perform their duties shall be eight hours per weekday, a total of 40 hours per calendar week.
   (d)   Absence of Service Director. In the absence of the Service Director, the Assistant Service Director shall be in charge of the Department. In the event that both the Service Director and the Assistant Service Director are unavailable, the Mayor or his designee may appoint a Service Department employee to be in charge of the Service Department during that period when both the Service Director and the Assistant Service Director are unavailable.
