(a) The Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief shall work at the discretion of the Mayor, an average of forty hours per week, generally Monday through Friday. All other full-time fire-fighters shall be on active duty in the performance of their duties in shifts of not less than 24 hours on and 48 hours off. Members of the Fire Department shall work six tours of duty (144 hours) in each 21-day work period. All members of the Fire Department shall be on call in the event of an emergency.
(b) The foregoing hours of work may be changed by the Fire Chief to a 40-hour work week for the full tour of Fire Cadets when attending the required Fire Cadet Training Program and may further be changed to accommodate a member who is attending school or training sessions other than the Cadet Training Program when such attendance is required by the Village and may further be changed to allow the transfer of members from one shift to another, provided it does not conflict with State or Federal Law.
