The office of city judge of the city court of the city of Cut Bank, Montana, shall be filled by appointment by the mayor of the city of Cut Bank with the advice and consent of the city council.
To be eligible for appointment as city court judge for the city of Cut Bank, a person must meet all requirements set forth in state of Montana statutes for qualifications of a justice of the peace, be a resident of Glacier County for at least one year, must maintain residency within the city limits or within a twenty (20) minute response time to their place of employment as determined by the city superintendent, and after appointment meet all other qualifications required by law. Any person so appointed who does not reside within the city of Cut Bank's limits shall in addition be required to provide a personal, one party line telephone connection to his or her place of residency.
