(A) Certificate required. No building hereinafter erected or structurally altered and no dwelling unit within the building shall be occupied for any purpose until a certificate of occupancy has been issued by the Building Commissioner, and a separate certificate of occupancy shall be required for each dwelling unit within all multiple-family residential buildings, as defined by the Zoning Ordinance and Official Plan of the village. Every certificate of occupancy issued shall state that the new occupancy complies with the applicable provisions of the village code, except as stated in the certificate or except for variations and/or nonconforming uses recited.
(B) Application for certificate. Applications for certificates of occupancy shall be filed with the Village Building Commissioner and contain the information as required to identify the building and/or dwelling unit for which the certificate of occupancy is requested, and in the case of dwelling units within all multiple-family dwelling buildings, all applications for certificates of occupancy shall also contain a designation of the locations of all smoke detectors as required by §§ 150.50 and 150.51.
