There is hereby established, as a unit of the Volunteer Fire Department, the Volunteer Part-Time Fire Safety and Rescue Unit, which shall consist of the following volunteer and part-time officials as appointed by the Mayor, subject to the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees: commander, who shall be the Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, deputy commanders and other members as deemed necessary by the Mayor. All members of this Unit, prior to and during the terms of their appointments, shall be members of the Volunteer Fire Department.
