§ 34.02 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   (A)   Appointment. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Mayor, with concurrence of the Board of Trustees.
   (B)   Powers and duties.
      (1)   Generally. The Chief of Police shall have the management of all matters pertaining to the Police Department, its officers. He or she shall have the custody and control of the officers, stations, equipment, books, records and other property belonging to the Department. He or she shall preserve the peace and secure good order within the village and the orders of the Mayor and the Board of Trustees.
      (2)   Books of record. The Chief of Police shall cause the following books of record to be kept in the Department of Police: persons arrested, accounts of moneys received and expended and the purpose thereof, all properties placed in his or her charge, time lost by other employees of the Police Department and other books and records as shall be required by the business of the Department. He or she shall also cause a complete record to be kept of all felonies committed within the village. This record shall be open at all times to the Mayor and Board of Trustees. The complete history of each person charged with having committed a felony shall be kept, which shall include a record of all orders entered in the proceedings and the final disposition thereof.
