§ 32.003 OATH AND BOND.
   (A)   Oath of office.
      (1)   All officers, whether elected or appointed, shall, before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation:
         I,                                                                                  , do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be), that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of                                     of the Village of Crestwood, to the best of my ability.
      (2)   The oath or affirmation so subscribed shall be filed in the office of the Clerk.
   (B)   Bonds.
      (1)   The officers of the village shall give bonds in the sums and within the time respectively stated in the provisions of the code defining the powers and duties of the several officers and departments of the village. In all cases not specifically provided for, the officers shall give the bonds and within the time as the Mayor and Board of Trustees may require or as required by law. Should good cause exist, in the judgment and discretion of the Board of Trustees, any officer may be required, from time to time, to give additional bonds in the sums and within the times as the Board may, by resolution, direct.
      (2)   The bond of each officer shall be conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his or her office and the payment to the proper officer of all moneys coming into his or her hands by virtue of his or her office.
      (3)   The bonds of all officers shall be subject to the approval of the Mayor and Board of Trustees. After the approval, as aforesaid, the Clerk shall endorse thereon the date thereof and file the same in his or her office, except the bond of the Clerk, which shall be filed with the Treasurer.
   (C)   Failure to qualify. If any person elected or appointed to any office shall fail to qualify by taking, subscribing and filing the oath of office and making, executing and filing his or her official bond, as herein provided, within ten days after being officially notified of his or her election or appointment, the office shall become vacant.
