Pursuant to I.C. 9-22-1-30 an owner or lienholder who attempts to claim a vehicle impounded and declared abandoned by the Police Department shall be liable to the towing company for its towing and per-day storage fee consistent with the charges normally incurred for voluntary towing and storage by that towing company up to the statutory maximum (currently $1,500 for storage), and for a fine of $100 payable to the city.
