There is hereby established within the Fire Department an Arson Investigation Division under the direction of the Fire Chief. The function of this division shall be to investigate any and all fires of suspicious nature with the intent of determining cause and origin, as provided for in IC 36-8-17-7. The division shall be comprised of those qualified personnel assigned by the Fire Chief from within the Department. The Chief may assign, or request the assistance of, other local and state offices in the course of any investigation.
