There is hereby established within the Fire Department a Fire Prevention Division under the direction of the Fire Chief, Chief Inspector and other fire inspectors. The function of this division shall be to perform fire prevention inspections and other duties related to the insurance of life and fire safety, as provided for in IC 36-8-17. The Chief may assign personnel to the division to assist the inspector in the administration of the city’s Fire Code and other applicable state and local codes.
