1505.14 INSTALLATION OF SMOKE DETECTORS.
   (a)   General smoke detectors shall be installed by the owner in all multi-family rental dwellings.
   (b)   Installation of a smoke detector system or device shall be for the purpose of early warning of the presence of smoke or fire to the occupants of residential buildings, and shall conform to the installation, maintenance, and use of household fire-warning equipment guidelines as set forth in the National Fire Protection Association Publication that is referenced in the adopted version of the Ohio Fire Code and its referenced materials.
   (c)   It shall be the duty of the owner of any multi-family rental dwelling or other occupancies or buildings covered by this section to insure that the maintenance and use of smoke detectors shall be in accordance with the requirements of this section.
   (d)   It shall be the responsibility of the owner or agent to inspect the smoke detectors annually.
   (e)   It shall be the responsibility of the occupant to report all defects of the smoke detectors to the owner or agent within five days and the owner or agent shall correct reported defects within five days.
