723.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   (a)   “Hawker” means any peddler, as defined in this section, who seeks for purchasers either by outcry or by attracting notice by some signal as he offers goods, wares, and merchandise or other articles for sale.
   (b)   “Peddler” means every person who sells or offers for sale goods, wares, merchandise directly to a consumer by going from house to house for the purpose of selling the goods, or by selling goods from a pack or vehicle, either by going from place to place or by offering the goods from the pack or vehicle in any public street, square, or other place, or on private property.
   (c)   “Solicitor” means every person engaged in the business of going about the City house-to-house soliciting orders for goods, wares, merchandise or other articles for profit. (1993 Code 118.01)
