917.03 CROSSWALKS FOR PEDESTRIANS.
   Every person making an excavation in any public street in the City for the purpose of improving or repairing the roadway of the street shall, during the progress of the work, provide crosswalks on that portion of the street being improved or repaired for the purpose of accommodating pedestrians who may desire to cross the street. The crosswalks shall be constructed of planks at least five (5) feet in length. Within the business and closely built-up portion of the City, the crosswalks shall be at least five (5) feet in width, and outside of the business and closely built-up portion at least three (3) feet in width.
