(a) Whenever the term "authority having jurisdiction" is used in the Cortland Fire Prevention Code or Ohio Fire Code, it shall be held to mean the Chief of the Cortland Fire Department or any certified Fire Safety Inspector directed by the Fire Chief to enforce the provisions of either the City Fire Code or the Ohio Fire Code.
(b) Wherever the term "OFC" is used in the Cortland Fire Prevention Code, it shall be held to mean the Ohio Fire Code or OFC as adopted and as hereinafter may be amended or revised by the Ohio Division of State Fire Marshal, Department of commerce.
(c) Wherever the term "ORC" is used in the Cortland Fire Prevention Code, it shall be held to mean the Ohio Revised Code as adopted or revised pursuant to Ohio law.
(d) Wherever the term “OAC" is used in the Cortland Fire Prevention Code, it shall be held to mean the Ohio Administrative Code as adopted or revised pursuant to Ohio law.
(e) Wherever the term "Inspector" is used in the Cortland Fire Prevention Code, it shall be held to mean a Fire Safety Inspector as defined in Ohio Administrative Code and/or Ohio law.
(f) Wherever the term ''Responsible Person'' is used, it shall mean the person responsible for compliance with the Cortland Fire Prevention Code or Ohio Fire Code, including but not limited to, the owner, lessee, agent, operator, or occupant of a building, premises or vehicle. Responsible persons can include individuals, heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, business associations, partnerships or corporations, its or their successors or assigns or the agent of any of the aforesaid.
(g) Wherever the term ''Fire Hazard" is used, it shall mean that in the opinion of the fire code official. any act, condition or thing that causes or creates a recognizable risk of an unfriendly fire or unwanted fire or harm to persons or property from such fires . A fire hazard includes, in the opinion of the Fire Code Official. any act, condition or thing that violates or creates a substantial risk of violating any fire or life safety provision of this Code.
(h) Wherever the term ''Fire Flow'' is nsed, it shall mean the quantity of water available for fire-fighting extinguishment and operations in excess of any design allowance or standard required for other purposes including but not limited to the design of fire protection systems.
