The owner or person in control of the following types of buildings shall install and maintain a Fire Department key box of a type approved by the Fire Inspector.
(a) All new construction, commercial, industrial, mercantile, or storage properties.
(b) All new day care, nursing home, and assisted living complexes.
(c) All new governmental, educational, or public assembly properties.
(d) All new apartment and condominium complexes with locked access doors or gates that restrict entrance.
(e) Preexisting properties shall follow new construction regulations if/when:
(1) The property is closed, renovated, then reopened as same type occupancy.
(2) The property is closed, renovated, then reopened as a different type occupancy.
(3) The property remains opened but is renovated to a different type occupancy.
(f) Properties constructed to house multiple occupants may install one key box to serve all occupancies, i.e.: office complex, plaza type buildings, etc.
