(a) Bereavement leave of up to three days may be requested for the death of one or more of the employee's following family members: spouse, mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, sister, brother, stepsister, stepbrother, children, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law and son-in-law. One (1) day shall be given for other relatives, i.e., grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
(b) In the case of out-of-state services or other unusual circumstances, additional days may be granted at the discretion of the City Manager; some or all of these additional days may be charged to the employee's sick leave balance.
