737.18 ESTABLISHMENT OF TAXICAB STAND.
The Board shall be authorized and directed to establish and regulate such taxicab stand or stands as will serve the best interests of the public. Such stand or stands shall be reserved exclusively for the parking of a taxicab or taxicabs while awaiting passengers for hire. No taxicab shall park continuously in any parking stand for a period exceeding one hour. It shall be the duty of the Board to designate the taxicab stand or stands by appropriate signs indicating that they are taxicab stands. It shall be the duty of the Board to grant to each taxicab system operating in the City one taxicab stand which shall be located in the Municipal Parking Lot and shall consist of not more than two (2) parking meter spaces. Any cost involved in removing parking meters in said initial taxicab stand shall be paid by the City. Should taxicab systems desire additional taxicab stands, and should any taxicab stand require the removal of or the discontinuance of a parking meter, then the taxicab owner must pay in advance three hundred dollars ($300.00) for the first meter taken out of use and the sum of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) for each meter taken out of service thereafter. The Board shall have continuing authority to establish, enlarge, diminish or discontinue any taxicab stands.
