A. Numbers will be assigned outward from the zero points in the grid system to the city plan commission's jurisdictional boundaries, and into adjacent portions of the county where agreeable.
B. House numbers will be assigned in relation to the house location on the lot or parcel. For example, a three hundred foot lot or parcel would typically be assigned twenty house numbers and identified by the exact number representing the placement of the house on the lot or parcel. Street number assignment shall be based on parcel street frontage.
C. Half numbers shall be placed upon the entrance posts or over stairways on any business buildings or other buildings where occupancy is separate and distinct from its ground floor.
D. All cities and towns within the county, and in adjacent counties if mutually agreeable, shall be given an opportunity to participate in the numbering and street naming so that a systematic, coordinated and integrated system may be achieved throughout the area.
E. Streets which curve in several directions will be numbered for the entire length of the street based upon the major tendency to a north-south or an east-west direction. A street of variable direction shall carry a name, not a number.
F. Streets which are broken in continuity will be numbered in the same manner as if they ran continuously.
G. Street directions (N., E., S. and W.) shall be included where necessary on maps and street signs, as a part of the street name.
H. Streets shall be identified by street signs to show direction and displacement of house numbers from base lines.
I. On private drives, cul-de-sacs, courts, etc., that are privately maintained and not dedicated into the public street system, the street name and numbering system must comply with these principles. A street name and number must be provided for each apartment house building before delivery service can be provided.
J. When a building has more than one delivery point, a separate number must be provided for each entrance. If the project includes town house apartments having separate entrances onto a street or court, each entrance must have an individual number. A single street number cannot be accepted for a group of apartment buildings.
K. The addresses of streets which now show small gaps or variations in numbering will not be changed unless the present numbering pattern in confusing or inconsistent with the overall numbering objectives. (Prior code § 27-12)
