No person shall sell, offer for sale, barter, exchange or go from door to door soliciting the purchase or gift of any goods or other articles of value or money, or offer any services for hire or commission in any place in, upon or along the streets or other public places in the municipality, without first obtaining a license pursuant to this chapter. Such person shall have such license with him or her at all times while exercising such calling and shall, upon demand, exhibit the license to any police officer or official of the municipality or to any occupant of any residence or business establishment in the municipality being contacted or solicited.
