(a) The Fire Department shall be composed of not more than 30 persons. They shall be compensated for the actual number of hours employed in the extinguishing of fires or protecting property at fires within the corporate limits of the municipality, or at fires other than those covered by contract with the trustees of Fairfield Township, as well as the actual number of hours employed at fires in Fairfield Township and which are without the corporate limits of the municipality.
(b) The Secretary of the Fire Department shall keep an actual record of all members of the Department in attendance at a fire and the actual amount of time each is present and actually employed, and shall certify the same to Council for payment.
