5-1-12: BONUS ELIGIBILITY FOR LATERAL TRANSFER OF POLICE:
   A.   Qualification Requirements:
      1.   The officer must have a current certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board or have retired within the past twelve (12) months.
      2.   The transferring officer must have previous continuous service as a police officer in the State of Illinois for a minimum of two (2) years and be in good standing with no adverse employment action, or be a part time officer with the Colona Police department with current certification from the ILETSB and current continuous service with the Colona Police Department for a minimum of two years.
      3.   The officer must be eligible to be granted a waiver of basic training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
   B.   Bonus Entitlement:
      1.   An officer hired as a lateral transfer will be entitled to receive a four thousand-dollar ($4,000.00) lump sum bonus after one year of satisfactory service.
      2.   An officer will be entitled to receive an additional lump sum bonus of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) after a second year of satisfactory service.
      3.   The total any officer may receive as a sign-on bonus is to be seven thousand dollars ($7,000.00).
   C.   Lump Sum Bonus: The lump sum bonus cannot be included in the Officer's regular payroll check and it must be specifically labeled as a bonus. All bonuses paid shall be subject to proper tax withholding. (Ord. O-22-07, 7-25-2022)
