10-2-3: ELECTRICIANS:
   A.   License Registration Required: Any person not holding an electric contractor's or wireman's license registration and is doing electrical wiring, whether he is under the supervision or not of an employer who holds an electrical license registration, shall be deemed guilty of an offense. (1991 Code § 5-102)
   B.   Exceptions: This section does not apply to communications technicians. (1991 Code § 5-101)
   C.   Apprentice Electrician: Any apprentice electrician (electrician's helper) who is duly registered under the electrical license act 1 may perform such work in the city, but only under the direct supervision of a journeyman or an electrical contractor that is duly licensed and registered by the city. No city license registration is required of such apprentice. (1991 Code § 5-103)
   D.   Electrical Contractor License; Fee:
      1.   Generally:
         a.   Any person desiring to perform skills of an electrical contractor or an electrician or the business of contracting, or furnishing labor or labor and materials for the installation, repair, or renovation of electrical facilities according to the provisions of the ordinances of the city or as defined in the electrical license act within the city, shall first make application to the city clerk and obtain a license registration to do so. Such application shall be accompanied by conclusive evidence that the applicant is licensed as an electrical contractor under the electrical license act. (1991 Code § 5-105)
         b.   The city clerk, upon receipt of such evidence and the payment of the initial license fee in the amount established by ordinance, shall issue an electrical contractor license registration to such applicant which shall authorize the contractor to work or function as such electrical contractor within the city for a full year or part thereof remaining and expiring on the birth date of the license. A registration fee in the amount established by ordinance shall be paid to the city at the time of registration. License fees shall be prorated, as established by the construction industries board, to coincide with the birth date of the license. Licenses shall be renewed upon application made more than thirty (30) days following the date of expiration, upon payment of the renewal and an additional fee as prescribed by the construction industries board, and upon compliance with any applicable continuing education requirements as established by the construction industries board. Provided that no penalty for renewal shall be charged to any holder of the license which expires while such holder is in military service if application is made within one year following his service discharge.       2.   Display State License Number: All registered contractors shall display the contractor's state license number on the driver and passenger sides of all vehicles used in the performance of the contractor's occupation. All numbers shall be painted or shall be permanent adhesive labels. All markings shall be a minimum of two inches (2") in height. All displayed markings shall begin with the letters "OK", followed by the respective numbers. All markings shall be of a contrasting color to the color of the vehicle. (1991 Code § 5-106)
