§ 93.11 OFFICE OF FIRE MARSHAL.
   (A)   The office of Fire Marshal is hereby established. The position of Fire Marshal is a duty assignment appointed by the Fire Chief. This assignment may or may not be a classified civil service position and as such serves at the pleasure of the Fire Chief.
   (B)   The Fire Marshal shall report directly to the Fire Chief and shall supervise the operations of the Fire Prevention Division.
 
   (C)   The Fire Marshal shall satisfactorily complete the training and certification requirements as established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Standards for Fire Protection Personnel for basic Arson Investigator and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Standards for Fire Protection Personnel for Fire Inspector I and Plans Examiner.
   (D)   The Fire Marshal shall have the authority to investigate or cause to be investigated the cause, origin and circumstances of any fire, explosion or other condition deemed hazardous to life or property.
   (E)   The Fire Marshal shall be empowered to summon any person believed to have knowledge or information pertaining to an investigation conducted by the Fire Department, to appear and provide information pertinent to such investigation. A person commits an offense if the person with criminal negligence interrupts, disrupts, impedes, or otherwise interferes with a Fire Department official investigating the cause of a fire.
