The Fire Chief, in accordance with Section 143.014 of the Local Government Code, may appoint one person in the classification immediately below that of Fire Chief, who will be assigned the duties of Executive Assistant Chief. The person appointed under this section shall serve at the pleasure of the Fire Chief and without civil service protection. Eligibility for appointment and the rights of appointees hereunder shall be in accordance with Chapter 143 of the Local Government Code.
