It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or cause to be operated within the town any vehicle for hire or taxicab carrying passengers for hire from place to place within the town, unless that person has the correct name of the person owning such vehicle for hire or taxicab, together with the telephone number of every such person owning such vehicle for hire or taxicab, clearly and visibly printed in paint on both sides and rear of the car in letters at least four inches high. All vehicles operated as taxicabs or for-hire vehicles shall maintain a valid vehicle registration plate and valid North Carolina inspection certificate.
