Any areas annexed into the City of Claremont, upon annexation, shall be rezoned to an appropriate zoning district, upon recommendation by the Planning Board and approval by the City Council and following notifications and public hearings as required by North Carolina General Statutes. When property that was previously assigned a municipal zoning classification by the City of Claremont because it was located within the extra-territorial jurisdiction prior to annexation, it will not be necessary to rezone the property.
