155.08 UNIFORM ALLOWANCES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, METER ATTENDANTS AND DISPATCHERS.
   EDITOR'S NOTE: The provisions in subsections (a) to (c) may be altered by applicable collective bargaining agreements. Please refer to the aforementioned agreements in regards to uniform allowance when necessary.
   (a)   Uniformed law enforcement officers, meter attendants and dispatchers shall be entitled to a uniform clothing/maintenance allowance as follows:

   (b)   All new uniformed employees shall be entitled to the uniform clothing/maintenance allowance. However, the clothing distribution allowances provided for by separate ordinance shall reduce the credit authorization of such employees even if such reduction consumes the entire allowance during the first year of employment.    (c)   The uniform allowance credit shall be administered as if the officers received a cash allowance and such officers shall be entitled to acquire the following:
      (1)   Basic uniform pieces, as defined in the rules and regulations of the Police Department;
      (2)   Footwear, including foul weather gear;
      (3)   Self-defense weapons;
      (4)   A flashlight;
      (5)   Leather gear; and
      (6)   Soft body armor.
   The items obtained by the officers utilizing the credit hereinabove provided for shall be of a quality not less than original issue items provided to newly employed officers. Further, items of wearing apparel are considered expendable.
