155.06 DEATH BENEFITS.
   (a)   All full-time employees of the City, whether classified or unclassified and whether employed on an annual salary basis or on an hourly basis, who are killed as a result of the performance of or while performing their official duties, or who, within six months, die as a result of injuries sustained while performing their official duties, shall be entitled to one year's salary, to be paid in twelve equal monthly installments from the date of death.
   (b)   For the purpose of this section, such entitlement shall be paid first to the surviving spouse of such deceased employee, or, if there is no surviving spouse, then to the children of such deceased employee, or, if there is no surviving spouse or children, then to the person named or designated to receive such payments. If no surviving spouse, children or designated person exists, then to the estate of such deceased employee.
   (c)   This section shall not apply to sickness or injuries received not in the performance of official Municipal business.
   (d)   This section shall not be construed to include those employees employed for a fixed term or on a contract basis.
