248.07 NONRESIDENT SERVICE.
   (a)   The members of the Fire Department are hereby authorized and directed to give aid to fire departments in adjoining or neighboring cities or villages when called upon for assistance.

   (b)   The members of the Department are hereby authorized and directed to render fire-fighting and rescue services to owners and occupants of premises and citizens in need outside the corporation limits of the City when called.

   (c)   The rate for service to owners and occupants of premises outside the corporate limits of the City shall be one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for responding to a call for fire-fighting service. The rate for providing rescue services outside the corporate limits of the City shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00). If both the rescue truck and fire truck are used in responding to a rescue call, the fee shall be one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). If a pumper is used as only a backup at the scene of a rescue call, the fee shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00), the same as a regular rescue call.

   (d)   The Department shall not leave the City in rendering service under this section at any time when it is actually responding to an alarm within the City or fighting a fire therein, and no service shall be rendered to premises outside the City unless at the time one complete unit of fire-fighting apparatus and sufficient members of the Department to operate it remain in the City.
   (e)   Neither the City nor any member of the Department shall be under any liability for failure to respond to a call for service to any of the premises covered by this section or for any act performed or failure to act when responding to such a call, or on the premises in response thereto.
