860.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   (a)   CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION: Any corporation organized under the General Not for Profit Corporation Act of 1986 (805 ILCS 105/101.01) or any association having attained Section 501(c)(3)-(8), (19), or other charitable status under the Internal Revenue Code, including philanthropic, social service, welfare, benevolent, educational, patriotic, veterans, civic or fraternal organizations.
   (b)   FOOD TRUCK VENDOR: A person or business engaged in the business of selling food or nonalcoholic beverages from a self-contained motorized vehicle or a self-contained enclosed trailer with valid license plates and registration.
   (c)   PEDDLER: A person who sells or offers for sale, barter or exchange, at retail, any food, drink or provisions, or any goods, wares or merchandise of any kind, while traveling from place to place in, along and upon the streets, alleys or other public ways or places in the City, or a person who sells and delivers, from any wagon or other vehicle while going from place to place in the City, whether to regular customers or not, any goods, wares, drinks or other merchandise, or who solicits customers or prospective customers or subscribers or prospective subscribers for the sale, barter or exchange of goods, wares, drinks, magazines, periodicals or other merchandise, including the sale or offer for sale of any such items from any satchel, stand, case, wagon, truck or other vehicle while upon the streets, alleys or other public ways or upon any private property.
   (d)   TRANSIENT MERCHANT: Any person who is engaged temporarily in the retail sale of goods, wares, or merchandise in this City and who, for the purpose of conducting such business, occupies any building, room, vehicle, structure of any kind, vacant lot, or parcel of property. However, this chapter does not apply to any person selling vegetables, fruit or perishable farm products at an established City market, to any person operating a stand or booth on or adjacent to property owned by him or upon which he resides, or to any person operating a stand or booth at a trade show, exposition, convention or similar event.
