(a) Tag Worn By Dog and/or Cat. The owner of each dog and/or cat shall provide his or her dog and/or cat with a collar, chain, or similar device to which the tag issued by the Illinois Department of Agriculture as proof of vaccination in accordance with this chapter and any other applicable rules, laws, or regulations, must be affixed. The owner shall ensure that the collar, chain, or similar device with the license tag is constantly worn by his or her dog and/or cat.
(b) Illegal To Remove Tag. It shall be unlawful for any person other than the animal control officer, a police officer, licensed veterinarian, or owner, to remove the license tag from any dog or cat within the City limits without the consent of the owner of such dog or cat.
(c) Any owner’s refusal to have their animal inoculated for rabies will be guilty of a violation of this chapter and shall pay a fine in accordance with the general penalty provisions of this Code, to be escalated for multiple violations as provided in this Code.
