An officer appointed pursuant to this chapter may resign from his or her office or employment, provided that he or she gives the City a thirty-day written notice of such resignation. An employee appointed under this chapter may resign from his or her employment, provided that he or she gives the City a two-week notice of such resignation. If an officer or employee ceases to perform the duties of, or ceases to hold, his or her office by reason of death, permanent physical or mental disability, conviction of a disqualifying crime or dismissal from or abandonment of office, the Mayor may appoint a temporary successor to the office or position for a period of thirty days.
