(a) Officers and employees shall serve so long as their services are deemed necessary by the Mayor and Council.

(b) The terms of elected Municipal officers elected at the regular Municipal election shall commence at the first regular meeting of the corporate authorities in the month of May following the election in April.
(c) The terms of elected Municipal officers elected at a special election shall commence at the first regular or special meeting of the corporate authorities following the proclamation of results of the special Municipal election at which such officers were elected.
