Meters, when installed to service any property, shall be removed only by an authorized employee of the Department or upon order of the Public Works Director. Violation of this provision shall result in the water to the property being turned off. Before water service is restored, the property owner or person in control shall reimburse the town’s costs incurred to restore the meter to its authorized and designated location. If the meter was removed by a plumber or other contractor, his or her business license may be revoked and not again issued until the charge has been paid.
