All single and multiple rental dwellings, motels, single rented residences, and businesses, whether rented or not, located within the city shall be provided with a minimum of one U. L. approved single station smoke detector located in the sleeping area of each rental unit, hotel or motel room, lodging or boarding house, rented mobile home or rented dwelling unit. This requirement shall apply to all rented housing and all businesses, whether rented or not, located within the city. The detectors shall be located in accord with the particular building code in effect within the city.
