§ 50.001 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   APPLICANT/CUSTOMER. Includes any person, firm, corporation, partnership, or other legal entity which is the user or consumer of village utility services or which is legally responsible for payment of rates, charges, and penalties for such utility service by statute or ordinance.
   CHECK. Shall have the same definition as defined in 810 ILCS 5/3-104, Uniform Commercial Code. (810 ILCS 5/3-104).
   DISHONORED. A check is DISHONORED when a necessary presentment is duly made to a financial institution and acceptance or payment thereof is refused for any reason.
   FINANCIAL INSTITUTION. Any bank, savings and loan, credit union, or other institution lawfully able to honor and pay checks drawn upon it.
   MASTER-METERED APARTMENT BUILDING. Any structure consisting of two or more dwelling units where any utility service is registered or recorded by a single meter for all of the units contained in the building.
   NONRESIDENTIAL SERVICE. Any building or outbuilding that does not meet the criteria for residential electric service will be considered nonresidential in nature and be eligible only for nonresidential electric service rates which the village refers to as commercial, industrial or government rates.
   RATES AND CHARGES. Includes penalties assessed for late or delinquent payments for utility services.
   RESIDENTIAL SERVICE. In order to qualify for residential electric service, a property must comprise one or more separately metered dwelling units, each of which provides living accommodations that include a minimum of a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Each property fitting this definition will be limited to one residential electric meter per residential unit. Any additional service may be billed at the residential electric rate.
