(a) A truck with a gross vehicular weight of more than 8,000 pounds is prohibited from racing the motor in such a manner that the exhaust system emits a loud, cracking or chattering noise unusual to its normal operation.
(b) A truck with a gross vehicular weight of more than 8,000 pounds is prohibited from using an engine retarder. For the purpose of this ordinance, an "engine retarder" is defined as any type of engine retarder commonly used as a braking system within the trucking industry, including but not limited to C Brakes, Pac Brakes, Tek Brakes and Jake Brakes. This restriction shall not apply to emergency vehicles.
