The Manager may designate, by letter filed with the Council, any official of the Municipality to perform his/her duties as temporary Manager during his/her absence or disability. In the event that such a designation has not been made or is disapproved by Council, or the position of Manager is vacant for any reason, the Council may, by resolution, appoint a suitable person including a member of Council to act as temporary Manager to perform the duties of Manager until he/she shall return or his/her disability ceases, or until a manager be appointed by Council, and Council may provide compensation for any temporary Manager.
