§ 90.08 RECORDS SEARCH FOR OWNER.
   (A)   When the identity of the owner of a motor vehicle is not known by the police officer authorizing the towing and impoundment of the motor vehicle, the police department will cause:
      (1)   The motor vehicle registration records of the state to be searched by the Secretary of State for the purpose of obtaining the required ownership information; and
      (2)   The stolen motor vehicle files of the State Police and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) files to be searched by a directed communication to the State Police for stolen or wanted information on the motor vehicle.
