The provisions of this subchapter shall not apply to the extent that they are different from or inconsistent with the provisions established by state law, as amended from time to time, for the appointment, promotion, demotion and dismissal of members of a Metropolitan Police Department. The provisions of this subchapter shall apply to the extent that they are not different from or inconsistent with the provisions established by state law, as amended from time to time, for the appointment, promotion, demotion and dismissal of members of the Municipal Fire Department.
