Persons carrying on the business of building, plumbing, mechanical, or electrical contractor within the town shall register at the office of the Inspection Department and each must post a clean-up bond for construction or remodeling activities that are equal to or exceed the project amount as shown in the fee schedule maintained in the offices of the Building Inspector and the Town Clerk. The clean-up bond for designated activities shall also be maintained in the offices of the Building Inspector and the Town Clerk. During the period of construction, the contractor will construct a temporary holding area per the specifications of the town’s Building Inspector to contain residual materials and other solid waste incidental to work at the site. Failure to do so or subsequent failure to maintain trash in the containment area will result in issuing a stop work order, which provides seven working days for the offender to correct the problem, after which work will be halted with loss of clean-up bond. Once the situation is corrected, inspected, and new clean-up bond is posted, resumption of construction will be permitted by formal letter from the Building Inspector. If final inspection has not been requested by the time the Inspection Department declares the work discontinued pursuant § 150.036, the Building Inspector will contact the permitted to resolve clean-up activity, posted bond and document in dormant file. The clean-up of property must be affected before final inspection by the Building Inspector. If clean-up is satisfactory, the bond will be returned. If the clean-up is not satisfactory, the bond will be forfeited, and the town will complete the clean-up job of the area.
