§ 35.061 GOVERNED BY STATE STATUTE.
   The Department shall be governed by I.C. 36-7-14 , as amended, and the Commission shall have the power and authority to do and perform all things now or hereafter granted to it by I.C. 36-7-14 and I.C. 36-7-25, each as amended.

§ 35.062 TAXING DISTRICT.
   All of the territory within the corporate boundaries of the county, except territory within a municipality, constitutes a taxing district for the purpose of levying and collecting special benefit taxes, as provided in I.C. 36-7-14 .

   Appointments of members to the Commission shall be governed by the applicable provisions of I.C. 36-7-14 .

COUNTY CONVENTION, VISITOR AND TOURISM COMMISSION
§ 35.075 CREATED.
   (A)   There is now created a commission to promote the development and growth of the convention, visitor and tourism industry of the county.
   (B)   (1)   The purpose of the Commission shall be to promote, assist and encourage the development and growth of the convention, visitor, recreation, and tourism industry in the county, in accordance with I.C. 6-9-18-5 .
      (2)   The Board of County Commissioners hereby confirms that the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission shall continue in existence, and shall operate pursuant to I.C. 6-9-18-1 et seq.

§ 35.076 NAME.
   The Commission shall be known as the “County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission.”

§ 35.077 MEMBERS.
   (A)   (1)   The Board of County Commissioners hereby determines that the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission shall consist of five members, a simple majority of which must be:
         (a)   Engaged in a convention, visitor, or tourism business; or
         (b)   Involved in or promoting conventions, visitors, or tourism.
      (2)   In all other respects, members must be qualified, and are subject to the provisions of I.C. 6-9-18-5 .
   (B)   After expiration of the current terms of existing members of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission, appointments to the Commission shall be made by the following entities:
      (1)   The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint three of the members; and
      (2)   The Mayor of the City of Logansport shall appoint two of the members.
   (C)   The existing members of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission shall retain their offices until the expiration of their current term. Upon the completion of the current members’ terms, the following schedule of appointments shall apply.
      (1)   The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint the replacement of the first current member whose term shall expire, upon the expiration of said term.
      (2)   The Mayor of the City of Logansport shall appoint the replacement of the second current member whose term shall expire, upon expiration of said term.
      (3)   The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint the replacement of the third current member whose terms shall expire, upon expiration of said term.
      (4)   The Mayor of the City of Logansport shall appoint the replacement of the fourth current member whose term shall expire, upon expiration of said term.
      (5)   The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint the replacement of the fifth current member whose term shall expire, upon expiration of said term.
   (D)   New appointed members of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission shall hold their offices for terms of two years. A member whose term expires may be reappointed to serve another term.
   (E)   A member of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission may be removed for cause by the member’s appointing authority.
   (F)   Members of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission may not receive a salary. However, said Commission members are entitled to reimbursement for necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their respective duties.
   (G)   Each County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission member, before entering the member’s duties, shall take an oath of office in the usual form, to be endorsed upon the member’s certificate of appointment and promptly filed with the clerk of the circuit court of the county.

§ 35.078 MEETINGS.
   The County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission shall meet after January 1 each year for the purpose of organization. It shall elect one of its members President, another Vice President, another Secretary, and another Treasurer. The members elected to those offices shall perform the duties pertaining to the offices. The first officers chosen shall serve from the date of their election until their successors are elected and qualified. A majority of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission constitutes a quorum, and the concurrence of a majority of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission is necessary to authorize any action.

§ 35.079 QUORUM.
   A majority of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission constitutes a quorum, and the concurrence of a majority of the County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission is necessary to authorize any action.
