“City” means the city of Casa Grande, Arizona.
“City Consolidated Fee Schedule” shall mean that public record adopted by council by resolution, as amended from time to time, as codified in Subsection 1.04.170.A. of this code.
“Civil hearing officer” means any person qualified and appointed to hear civil traffic violation cases and/or any civil violation cases.
"Civil traffic laws" are those laws adopted by ordinance or regulation relating to movement and control of traffic, including the parking, standing or stopping of a vehicle, which provides for imposition of civil sanctions upon violation of such ordinance or regulation.
"Civil traffic violation" means any violation designated as such under the provisions of Section 28-181(B), Arizona Revised Statutes, or any violation of civil traffic laws under the city code.
"Civil violation" means any violation designated as such under Arizona Revised Statutes, or any violation of the city code expressly designated as such.
“The code” or “this code” means “The Code of the City of Casa Grande, Arizona,” unless the context indicates otherwise.
“Council” means the council of the city of Casa Grande, Arizona.
“Day” means the period of time between any midnight and the midnight following.
“Daytime” means the period of time between sunrise and sunset. “Nighttime” means the period of time between sunset and sunrise.
Whenever any department, board, commission, office, officer, or employee is referred to, it shall mean a department, board, commission, office, officer, or employee of the city, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
"Gross vehicle weight rating" means the weight that is assigned by the vehicle manufacturer to a vehicle and that represents the maximum recommended total weight including the vehicle and the load for the vehicle.
“In the city” or “within the city” means and includes all territory over which the city now has, or hereafter acquires, jurisdiction for the exercise of its police powers or other regulatory powers.
“Month” means a calendar month.
“Oath” means and includes affirmation or declaration.
“Or” may be read “and,” and “and” may be read “or,” if the sense requires it.
“Person” means and includes firms, corporations, or voluntary associations, as well as individuals, unless plainly inapplicable.
“Personal property” means and includes every species of property, except real property as defined in this section.
“Preceding” and “following” mean the next before and the next after, respectively.
“Property” means and includes real and personal property.
“Real property” means and includes lands, tenements, and hereditaments.
“Shall” is mandatory and “may” is permissive.
“Shall have been” includes past and future cases.
“Signature” or “subscription” means and includes a mark when the signer cannot write, such signer's or subscriber's name being written near the mark by a witness who writes his own name near the signer's or subscriber's name; but a signature or subscription by mark can be acknowledged or can serve as a signature of subscription to a sworn statement only when two witnesses so sign their own names thereto.
“The state” means the state of Arizona.
“Tenant” or “occupant,” applied to a building or land, means and includes any person holding a written or an oral lease of or who occupies the whole or part of such building or land, either alone or with others.
"Vehicle" means every device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, including devices used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks.
“Week” means seven consecutive days.
“Writing” means and includes any form of recorded message capable of comprehension by ordinary visual means. Whenever any notice, report, statement or record is required or authorized by this code, it shall be made in writing in the English language unless it is expressly provided otherwise.
“Year” means a calendar year, except where otherwise provided.
