§ 92.065  GENERAL STAFF POLICIES.
   The following are the city’s general staff policies.
   (A)   Each employee must exhibit tact, courtesy, pleasant attitude and a willingness to serve the public.
   (B)   Be well groomed and neat in appearance. High standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness must be maintained.
   (C)   Reading materials, radios, musical instruments or other distractions that might impair efficiency will not be allowed.
   (D)   Lost articles, including cash, must be turned over to the pool manager or head guard.
   (E)   Employees must be prompt in reporting to work. All employees must be at their stations ready to work at their designated starting time. Employees must not leave until their assigned work period is over. Any change in work schedule must be cleared with the pool manager or head guard.
   (F)   The pool will be in operation only during hours set by the Department. No unauthorized or free swimming is permitted.
   (G)   Relatives, friends and off-duty employees should not visit pool staff during working hours. No employee is permitted to keep personal effects for a patron as a personal favor. Personnel are not to put articles in patron’s basket; the patron must place articles in his or her own basket.
   (H)   No smoking and eating is permitted while on duty.
   (I)   Lifeguards are not permitted to talk with patrons while in the towers unless it is in the performance of their duties. While answering questions, the lifeguards in the towers should not take their eyes off the water and deck that they are guarding.
   (J)   Employees are not to resell any article at the swimming pool to any patron.
   (K)   Use of the office phone is restricted to swimming pool business and emergency purposes.
   (L)   Unnecessary ornaments, such as earrings, bracelets and pins, must not be worn by lifeguards while on duty.
   (M)   Blankets may not be wrapped around the body of a lifeguard while on duty in the towers.
   (N)   Drinking of intoxicating liquors while on duty or reporting to work when under the influence of drugs or alcohol will result in immediate dismissal.
   (O)   Do not touch a patron while disciplining them. If they will not obey instructions, contact the pool manager or head lifeguard.
   (P)   People not employed by the Parks and Recreation Department, other city employees on special assignments, or vending service personnel, are not allowed inside the basket room, office, chlorine house and/or filter room.
