§ 50.038  LEAK POLICY.
The following policies are hereby adopted for water leaks.
   (A)   Water. The city will determine the customer’s average monthly water consumption for the three months prior to the leak. Subtract this average from the present bill. The remaining leaked water amount will then be divided into half with the customer paying the average of the last three months plus one-half of the leaked water. The city will be responsible for the remaining half of the leaked amount. If the city is unable to read the meters because of severe temperatures for one month and a customer has a leak, then the customer will pay one-half of the leak and the city will pay one-half. If the city has been unable to read the meters for two months, the city will pay 75% of the leak and the customer 25% of the leak. If the city could not read the meters for three months, then the city would pay all but one-half of one month.
   (B)   Sewer. If a water leak occurs between the meter and the house, then no additional charge for sewer service is incurred. The bill would be based on an average of the previous three months. If the water leak occurs from within the customer’s house and city sewers were used, then the customer and the city pay one-half of the leaked amount based on the customer’s previous three months’ average bill.
