Provided that the cemetery lot on which the interment is being made has been previously purchased, any licensed funeral director or his agent who wishes to make an interment in the cemetery, shall contact the sexton at least twenty four (24) hours prior to the interment and shall apply to the City Clerk for a permit as soon as possible thereafter. In the event the lot has not been previously purchased, the sexton shall be contacted at least thirty six (36) hours prior to the time of interment to assure that payment and proper arrangements can be made. Upon payment of the proper fee, a grave opener permit shall be prepared by the City Clerk and issued to the applicant. Failure to follow the provisions of this section may result in a rescheduling of the burial except when religious practices require interment as soon as possible following death. (Ord. 2018-35)
