A. There are vacant or abandoned buildings within the City of Carbondale that may become threats to the health, safety, and welfare of the surrounding buildings and community. The purpose of this chapter is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the surrounding buildings and community by:
1. Establishing a program for identification, registration, and regulation of buildings which are or become vacant.
2. Determining the responsibilities of owners of vacant buildings.
3. Providing for administration and enforcement, including abatement of public nuisances and imposition of penalties. (Ord. 2022-33)
